Vecna: Eve of Ruin

A narrative account of actual game play

My playing group, with me as the Dungeon Master, have undertaken the Vecna: Eve of Ruin campaign released by Wizards of the Coast in May 2024.

What follows is a narrative style account of that game with each session released weekly as a blog post.

The Characters

Brabara

Human fighter and resident of Neverwinter. Long time member of the City Watch who had recently suffered hard times over the murder of her mother and the subsequent arrest of her husband Tiny.

Ebyn

Shadar-kai divination wizard. Newly arrived in Neverwinter after a period of study at Candlekeep. Haunted by dreams of some terrible future he left the Shadowfell to understand these visions but has had no real success. He came to Neverwinter with no money and few options and joined the City Watch as way of earning some coin.

Seknafret

Human pact of the celestial warlock. She has travelled to Neverwinter from deep within the desert of Anauroch to find lore regarding the magic that keeps the river so warm as to defy the seasons. Her travelling party were brutally killed in a failed kidnapping attempt and Seknafret sought refuge by joining the City Watch hoping to use their resources to find whoever attacked her.

Xalen

Elf rogue and member of the Neverwinter Thief's Guild. A foundling raised within the guild by his foster father, Slippery Pete. Xalen was selected as the liason between the guild and the City Watch.
